When a part rusts, does the weight change?

Rusted part is the change in molecular formula ie. Cu (copper) oxidization , equivalent to adding Oxygen molecule. Hence definitely a chnge, an increase in wight.

Yes, the weight increases since the iron forms iron oxide. After some time, the rust falls off and then the weight decreases, exposing a fresh surface for further rusting. If you weigh the part then, the weight could be less than the original weight.

Yes, the iron (Fe2) is being converted to iron oxide (Fe2O3). So you add the weight of the oxygen. But then of course, things start falling off so it will eventually get lighter.
