Can I say "see what a good job I did solving the problem" simply because one room is bug free? What will I say when the roof caves in?

A house Bush/Cheneyed against itself will fall, be it in Iraq or the US. Good analogy.

1) Your house will indeed collapse.
2) You can say whatever you want. The 1st amendment gives you that right. That won't prevent the house from collapsing.
3) I have no idea what you will say when the house collapses, I'm not a mind reader.

Great analogy.

McCain goes into a Baghdad market with 100 troops and 5 helicopter gunships and declares that the city is peaceful and safe now because he can walk there safely (albeit with body armor.)

You have to start in one room - the thing that is for sure: your house will surly turn to sawdust if you ignore the termites - and then they'll move on to your neighbor's house.
