Well there are "spinning wheels" that used to be used to make fabric from yarn; there are 8 track tape players(holy c**p, that one's in my lifetime!) There are transistor tubes, which did for the room-sized computers of the forties a VERY limited version of what microchips do for today's computers, there is the carburetor, which was replaced by fuel injectors in cars' engines,There are turntables, which were outmoded when CD's and CD players came out.

Invented in c. 670, by the chemists in Constantinople (at the time of the Byzantine Empire) it was called "Greek Fire" - a flammable liquid weapon that could float on water, and was nearly impossible to extinguish. It may have been a form of naptha, it was used primarily at sea. It was used by catapulting a burning cloth-wrapped ball, perhaps containing a flask inside, onto other ships, or by pouring it down on the enemy's forces that attempted to scale the walls during a siege. Today, the closest invention there is to this is napalm.

Early in the 20th century there were steam-powered automobiles. Anyone who owns one of them now has a high-priced antique.
I have a manual typewriter that is quite definitely an antique. It dates from 1950 and cost $100 new. Smith-Corona. I have the case, sales receipt and manual, too.

seismograph (size-mo-graf)
The ancient Chinese people used it to detect earthquakes, volcanic eruption, or any kind of underground movement, scientist still use it today.
It is a vase with 4 holes in the side, north south east and west, when there was movement there where rods in the vase that spun and dropped a little ball out one of the holes, then they knew wich way the earthquake or eruption was coming from.
