One of my friends who is a coworker says that I am weird because I can remember things that most people cannot, like dates on which something happened or the date on which I did a particular thing. I think that I have a gift for remembering this information, but my friend has said to me that because I am able to do this that I am weird. I find this to be hurtful. Am I just not understood? I take that kind of comment as meanness and I am tempted to terminate the friendship. Should I do it?

Just tell your coworker how you feel and if it persists, THEN stop being friends.

I think your friend is using the word "weird" as meaning unusual. It is unusual for someone to be able to remember dates the way you can. Why don't you talk to the person about it and let her know that the word "weird" is offensive to you. Ask her to explain how she means it. I would not terminate a friendship until I was sure there was a valid reason .

You gotta be kiddin NO! My friend is one of the wierdest people on Earth (trust me) I claled him that and he doesn't mind, I used to have that same problem I have a very good memory when I want to remeber things (I can remeber my first day of 3rd grade) and stuff and I'm waaaayy older you shouldn't let that insult you feel proud like me, I like remebering things it helps me do good in things likes test and stuff... Don't terminate the friendship because of that... I felt that when sdomeone called me wierd when I did this I felt hurt then I realized it's ok some people have it some people don't the memorizing thing it's fine let it go... and I know how you feel and P.S. you'll defiently get over it

If it comes up again, and you get called weird by this person, tell them it's not your fault they are so "absent minded". As for terminating friendship, I guess it would depend on how much emphasis they use when they say "you're weird". If they say it like they are looking at an alien or something, I'd go out of my way to ignore someone who was so narrow-minded.

I remember stuff like that too!! You are soo right-it's a gift! It's very useful.
If your friend is constantly saying stuff like that and you don't like it then tell your friend. Your friend may not realize that it hurts you. If your friend doesn't stop, then end the friendship. People don't have to be around other people who make them feel hurt, you know. ;)

Good luck!

Does your friend know you are hurt by this. Sometimes friends say things, but they don't know how it feels. If she mentions it over and over that you're weird than I think you should end it, but try having a talk with your friend first.

you shouldnt end a friendship over words all of us have those who communicate about us yet its no longer cool to end a friendship over some thing so chilidish communicate inclusive of your pal and tell him/her the way you fell and that its no longer alright to attempt this back please dont act stupid and make irattional judgements =)

Tell your friend that his comments hurt you. Just be frank with him. Its normal to me to have the ability to remeber things. If he continues hurting you with the comments, just ignore him. If he is a true friend, he'll stop.

My friend said that to me also in a joking way and I said WHAT! She said I'm just kidding and I could tell by the look on her face that she was kidding. Trust me you can tell If the person is just kidding or is serious, if your friend was serious dump him/her he/she is jealous that you are smarter :)
