If it's important enough to fight about, stay and fight about it.
I ran from those fights, and then I tried bargaining through them. I'll tell ya what: I let myself get... treated poorly... in order to avoid the aggravation, and the only person that really lost was me.
The last ten years have been very instructional: fighting for things that are worth fighting for is remarkably easy on the conscience. And it's the right thing to do.

Depends on the situation. If I'm with my son, I leave, if not it's on. For some reason people think I'm all mousy, and scary. Little do they know I've been to anger management classes on two separate occasions for the use of excessive force when fighting.
