When you spend over an hour stuck in traffic trying to get anywhere you have a tendency to space out every once in awhile. Not to mention there have been numerous accident related deaths due to people running red lights. It always seems to be the people who had a green light that end up dead.

I never go right when the light turns green cuz you never know when some jacka** is going to be running a red light.

Because we're not in a huge rush to get anywhere. The red light cameras have people stopping sooner (which is what they are designed to do).

The get bored waiting for the light and do other things (like people watch) and get distracted.
