Although I always practice safe sex, I still have myself tested every three or six months, at the Los Angeles GLBT center, they offer several different type of testes, I had the OraSure test, they put a swab painlessly collects oral fluid from the inside of my month, and I go back in a week to find out the result.

I get tested 2 times a year regardless of how often I've had sex. I get tested for everything, something ANY sexually active PERSON should do!

Nope; I'm a virgin and plan to be monogamous when I take the leap, not to mention practicing safe sex.
But when the time comes, I'll definitely get tested for the sake of my partner, and make him/her do the same, and you get BIG props from me for being so wonderfully thorough and careful.

I get it done every month... It will generally surface six months within contracting the virus, but I figure, catch it while it's young you know... and just as a personal question, is it as affective as blood being drawn?

After a previous boyfriend called to tell me that he was positive, I got tested even though we were always safe. I was negative.

It's always a good idea. Though two women don't often transmit HIV to each other, my wife and I get tested during physicals (and for other diseases as well) because we weren't always monogamous.

Though I am monogamous, I test MONTHLY, as a show of support to the testers that come to our clinic. And to show the clients how easy it is.
