they say IQ but that can sometimes b crap....u can hav a high score in spottin spatial distribution and patterns and suck at ur verbals and end up scorin the highest on ur english literature papers.........best test is manipulating! i know its real cruel and mean but its the best way to find out if ur brain has the capacity to come up wit the best conniving, senile, ingenious, complex plan and hav the power to execute it....the passin result wud ofcourse b not to get caught.

Take a generally recognized IQ test and score significantly above average. I think around 4 stand deviations above average (140-150ish) is the "genius" range, but I'm only casually interested in these things.
Remember that genius doesn't mean that you will be either hard working or functional in a particular area. It could mean that you will slack off in class, develop a poor work ethic and slide your way through life. I'm sure I would score above average on an IQ test, but I've intentionally avoided taking one because I would rather not know. If I score a 110 it would make me kind of miserable and if a scored a 140 it would give me a swelled head. If I finish my degree and write interesting papers, I can be happy with my hard work and intellect regardless of what my number happens to be.
Other points: IQ is kind of odd. My little brother was doing poorly in school as a kid, so they gave him an IQ test and he scored 135ish. As a result the school system coddled him a bit, but he remains dyslexic and an average student. The only way you can really prove your genius is pushing yourself to the limit intellectually. I've hit that limit for me many times, but it is only in pushing yourself that you know what your mind is capable of achieving.

Look up MENSA.
If you're not used to these tests, take your time. They're designed to trick you. You'll do better if you assume nothing and analyze everything, and most people do not think that way.
BTW, don't take results of an IQ test as the last word on "genius."
Those who are exceptionally gifted or prolific at a number of things are often referred to as geniuses.
