Are you referring to the Customs House section? Or the actual story? I think Hawthorne's narrative techniques are filled with vivid imagry and simple beauty. Same thing with all the rest of his work. Pax - C

It is terrible. Scarlet Letter has to be one of the worst books ever

Well, I think that's a fine, fine narration technique he used there in....? ? Oh, in The Scarlet Leather.
