I lived in Pensacola for 32 years which is about 45 minutes away, regardless of the low temperatures if you are on the beach you'll get a tan, make it a several hour event and you will see the effects when your done with your day, our idea of the beach is an all day event, and we get the tan.

It is the exposure to sunlight that reacts with the melanin to create a tan. Even on a cloudy day you can still get tanned because the ultraviolet waves from the sun pass through the clouds.
I live in Sydney ,Australia and we are mostly beach and outdoor people and are in the sun a lot..Because there is a hole in the ozone layer we are exposed to too much ultraviolet light which can give us skin cancer. That is what has happened to a lot of people who spent all day on the beach trying to get a tan when they were younger.

The Skin Cancer Council of Australia is trying to educate people about the dangers of overexposure to the sun. However a lot of sun lovers are not worried abou t skin cancer and still stay out all day

I love the sun myself and like getting a tan . I try to avoid between the hours of 11 am and 1pm. when the sun is at its strongest.

Sorry for making this a long answer . Happy sunbathing!

It's not the temperature that determines your tanning ability. You can even get a sunburn in winter time!

The angle that the earth is tilted at is what determines the ability to tan. Florida is close to the equator, so if you lay out at least 20 minutes a day, any time between 12:00 - 2:00 pm, you will probably get a pretty nice tan. The closer it is to summer, the more easily you will tan.

OMG how cool!! I'm goin to Destin, FL this Saturday and staying the whole next week!! But the weather this weekend is supposed to be a high of 64...but later next week it's supposed to warm up a lot. But even if it's cold you can still get a tan...as long as the sun's shining. LOL duh. haha But yeah you'll LOVE Destin!!! The beaches are SOOO WHITE!! I love it there. We go there every Spring Break and stay at my uncles beach house. Well have fun!! :)

its fairly warm. just make sure it's sunny because i live in florida too and the weather is sort of weird. it can get super hot but it's cloudy and there's no sun to tan.. or just go to a tanning salon.. that's what i do on times like this...
