Truman announced he was drawing a line in Greece and Turkey and challenged the Russians to cross it.
The Truman Doctrine was reflected in the Berlin Airlift of 1948, and in the Korean War 1950-1953. Use of the doctrine by Truman's predecessors led to the Vietnam War and the nuclear arms race.

Well a lot of Eastern European countries THOUGHT they could count on America to help them when they rebelled against the Soviets, but as it turned out America turned the other way and Soviets were able to more effectively control the iron curtain and keep countries under their influence.
