The Enterprise was the most decorated ship in the US Navy during World War II. It fought in almost every major battle in the Pacific from Midway to Okinawa.

She was the first carrier awarded the Presidential Unit Citation, and the only carrier awarded both the Presidential Unit Citation and the Navy Unit Commendation during World War II.

Secretary of the Navy Forrestal stated in 1945 that Enterprise was "the one vessel that most nearly symbolizes the history of the Navy in this war.

~I assume you mean the Galloping Ghost, CV-6, as the CVN-65 wasn't launched until Sept. 60 or commissioned until Nov '61.
Given her 20 battle stars, the Big E must have done something right here and there, starting with her role at Pearl on 12/7 (although that was not a banner day, as she lost more planes to friendly fire than to enemy fighters).
On a whim, I looked her up. It took 6 seconds to get 10 hits, at least three of which will give you all the information you want on The Fighting Gray Lady, and more. The links should keep you up all night.
Happy hunting.

The ship was able to travel back in time under the command of captain John Luke Precard and use their plasma cannon to blow the $hit out of everything. Thus winning the war for the federation.
