Classic Romance: Jane Austen, namely Pride and Prejudice and Emma

Humorous Teen Romance: Meg Cabot, namely Nicola and the Viscount and Victoria and the Rogue

Dark and Thoughout Provoking: Edgar Allen Poe, namely his collected short stories such as the Fall of the House of Usher

Moralistic/Inspirational: Mitch Albom, namely Tuesdays with Morrie

Teen Fantasy/Adventure/Humor: Tamora Pierce all books! especially the Alanna quartet (Alanna the First Adventure, etc.) also Gail Carson Levine's Ella Enchanted (waaayyy better than the movie)

Adult Fantasy: Terry Brooks, Sword of Shannara and series

Classic Adventure: Daniel Defoe, namely Robinson Crusoe and Johann David Wyss, namely Swiss Family Robinson

Classic Dramatic Literature: Sophocles' Oedipus and Aeschylus' Orestia

These are just a few of my favorites in a few genres- hope you find something you like!

I just went on vacation and relaxed by the pool reading this book. It's called "I Did But I Wouldn't Now" by Cara Lockwood. It's about a woman who impulsively marries a rock star and lives to regret it when things fall apart. It's laugh out loud funny. There were so many moments when I was just laughing and my husband was looking at me like I was crazy. The point is, I fully enjoyed this book and that's what reading is all about. Pleasure.

Earth Abides. George R. Stewart

If You like a good narrative socio-environmental science fiction work then this is the definitive article. Stewart pre- defined the post Apocalypse biological novella before there was even such a genre. If You only ever read one work of science fiction, this should be the one. Stewart's story is ranked on a par with "The War of The Worlds", only it is more 'human' in it's pronouncements upon Our civilization.

Try to find a copy. It is well worth the effort. Cheers!
