I'm looking for something to put on my motorcycle tires that will make them look black & shiney. I don't want to use Armor All or Son of a Gun but I know there's something that different people use,so I'm open to all suggestions

Do you want to ride or do you want to look at it? If you want to ride it, applying just about any product to make the tires "shine" is incredibly stupid.

I also like Eagle One Tire Shine but if you read the small print it says its not for use on motorcycle tires. Most tire shines are not recommended for motorcycles tires because they are oil based formulas. Certainly something you don't want on your tread. I use them anyway but I don't spray it on. Dip your cloth or sponge into a bowl of tire shine and apply it that way, being careful to stay away from the tread edge by at least a quarter of an inch.

I wouldn't put anything on my tires that might in any way compromise their grip. There is the outside chance that even if you put some sort of tire dressing only on the sidewall of the tire, centrifugal force could cause it to travel to the tread. I've also seen car tires that the sidewall began to split on because of repeated use of a tire dressing product. just clean them with soapy water, rinse thoroughly, dry and ride, free from the worry of whether your tires will stick or not.

Dont put anything on those tires but soap and water. Armor-all or anything like that is going to make your tires slippery and you WILL crash. Motorcycle tires arent supposed to be nice and shiny, they dont have big sidewals that dont come into contact with the road like cars do.

You can use just about any tire specific shine product AS LONG AS YOU DO IT ON THE SIDEWALL ONLY. Never EVER EVER get it on the tread or you'll slip and slide like a fat lady on ice.

Remember, on the SIDEWALL ONLY. I used Tire wet spray on a rag and wiped the sidewalls down with it.

Good luck and be careful.

Gotta agree with john s. All that slippery stuff is dangerous. And the reason brake fluid makes the rubber swell is that it is not compatible with the compound. My suggestion: soap and water, keep them clean. They won't shine, but they'll be black.

hmmm..... "I'm open to all suggestions" ........ an "old school" trick is to use brake fluid. It will also swell shut small cracks in old tires. This works... my father taught me in the 60's and I've done it many times. Like friends mentioned.... DO NOT APPLY to your treaded surface!
