I used to have a log home, the bees and hornets loved hanging out.I tried everything but the only thing that worked was a trick that a pesticide person told us...use Liquid Sevin(it is a pesticide for gardens), you get it at any garden center...put into sprayer and spray your eaves, drain pipes, anywhere there could be a problem with the insects. Let dry(keep pets away from it until it is dry) this should have the problem solved at least it did for me.I didn't have bees or hornets the entire year. Hope this helps. Good Luck

wow, i've been out all day everyday for a week fighting them. I can tell you what I've learned. The male has a white spot on his head, he cant sting and is aggresive, he is the one buzzing you. Does no good to kill him, lol. the female is who you are after. She has no spot on her head, and she stings. They return to the same nesting area year after year. Painting the wood helps sometimes, but not always. They say to put a certain chemical in the holes they make, then plug with cotton. Lots of work. I have tried spraying with flying insect spray , dawn liquid detergent mixture, and a variety of others. This week I bought some raid hornet killer and went to all the holes I could find and sprayed in them. You can hear the bees dying inside, they will climb out. Today I repeated the process. I have gone through six cans so far for my house and barn. Two weeks ago you could not walk in the barn there were so many, today we hardly saw them at all. I have also used my indoor outdoor vaccuum to suck em up. lol. they are horrible. Good luck.

Oh heck, if they are carpenter bees you don't have anything to worry about, just walk through them like they don't exist. The males don't sting and the female are too busy drilling holes to worry about you. If you want to keep them off your house, paint the wood a thick coating of paint or put a siding over it. Us pressure treated posts next time. The males come at you at mach II speed, do a 90 degree turn 6inches from your chest as a bluff. It works, doesn't it? lol lol Ignore them...... But don't kill them as they are on of the very very best pollinators we have. Those hole they drill are filled with pollen for their young..... where do they get the pollen from,,,, right!

my mom would cut the top off a bottle and pour juice, pop/soda, or anything sweet into it bottom half of the bottle (about half way). she would then invert the bottle top like a funnel and place it in the bottom half of the bottle (make sure that no liquid is in the funnel part). she would then tape the seam. the hornets/bees would be attracted to the sweetnes then drown because they couldn't easily esacpe the bottle.

They all love spilt soda pop. Hose down your deck with a bleach solution to get rid of their food source.

Wear pants, shorts do not protect you enough. I have similar problems with mosquitoes and you are going to have to wear full length pants when you are outside.

You can buy "Bee Traps" at any hardware store. I used them last year and they did a pretty good job.
