It isn't always sunny, but a lot of it is a desert which makes it seem that way.

The main reason is the Pacific Ocean. The current in the ocean that moves along the California coast is a cold current (most of the year). Prevailing winds are weather in California are from the west, since cold ocean currents are not sources of moisture for the atmosphere no clouds result from them. However, part of the year the cold current weakens enough for that to change, and that is when California gets some rain. The dessert in southern California receives very little rain because mountains to its west (the ones around LA and San Diego) "squeeze" out the rain clouds.

So not true lol. People always forget that there is more to California than just LA and Long Beach where the sun does shine more often, but not ALWAYS. I live in the northern part where it does get sunny and hot in the summer, but its cold, rainy, and snowy in the winter.

It doesn't really get HOT HOT in California if unless you live like...in the desert. lol But it does get hot at times...So Cal is mostly a Meditteranian type climate...much like Italy. The atmosphere is just perfect...EXCEPT the people who live in North Cal. It sucks up there cuz it's mostly foggy and raining.

Its not! At least by the coast of CA it rains more than Arizona, But the eastern part of CA is more of the desert, this desert includes death valley, the hottest place in the US.
