Regarding the first answer, I think it would be creative if you wrote about the VERY FIRST pilgrim landing spot(1620) in Provincetown, MA (last town on the tip of Cape Cod). Most people think that Plymouth was the first landing spot, but it was not. The pilgrims landed in Provincetown...but the harsh winters and bad soil provoked them to move to the mainland.

You could even do a mini pilgrim monument! See website! (As you can tell, I am obsessed with Cape Cod!)

Colonization (Lost Colony, Jamestown, Pilgrims THAT DID NOT LAND ON PLYMOUTH ROCK!).

American Revolution 1775-1783: Battle at Bunker Hill (actually took place on Breed's Hill), Battle at Yorktown, Concord, Lexington, Washington crossing the Delaware on Christmas Day, etc.

Declaration of Independence July 4, 1776 (may want to mention Thomas Paine's Common Sense pamphlet).

Articles of Confederation; America's first attempt at a government.

Constitution and the Bill of Rights

Washington as first President

Election of 1800; more controversial than the 2000 election!

Jefferson buying Louisiana Purchase from Napoleon and sending Lewis and Clark out to explore the area.

War of 1812 and Battle of New Orleans

That should help get you started!

If you want creative, try the Boston Tea Party. You could make some fake crates of tea, and dress up like a Native American.
And it happened in 1773.
