In India if you consider it a part of South Asia women have equal options to get divorce. As far type of marriage is concerned yes there are both arranged as well love marriages taking place in India. As far equal treatment in their marriages is concerned there can be two views, one social other legal. As far social status is concerned in some communities they get equal treatment but not in other, for example if a Hindu lady married to a Hindu man, her husband cannot marry second time during his wife’s life time as it is considered crime against her, thus we can say both have right to have one spouse only, but on other hand in case of Muslims a husband can have as many as four wives during the life time of his first or subsequent wives, now here first wife is not allowed even second husband during the life time of her first husband hence you can say this is inequality in the name of religion. As far legal statues are considered you will find more laws in favor of ladies for which she can take legal action against her husband for crime such as cruelty or domestic violence but here there exist no such law where husband can take legal action against her wife for the same crimes only he can get divorce in such thing happens against him, but wont get his wife punished for the same for which he can face imprisonment too. For more of such information write to me directly.

My wife is Filipina and I am English. There is no divorce in the Phillipines but you can get an annulment but not a divorce. It is a male dominated society and few men apparently are faithful and have at least one girlfriend. If the man is the one working then the woman is trapped.
