The Buddha was born in the 6th or 5th century BC in the kingdom of the Sakyas, on the borders of present-day Nepal and India. As the son of Suddhodana, the king, and Mahamaya, the queen, the Buddha thus came from a Khattiya family (i.e., the warrior caste or ruling class).

He was NOT born in India, but in Nepal

Although there is little if any historical evidence (less even than that dealing with Jesus) of his life and teachings, it appears he was born in the 6th century b.c.e. and lived much of his life in what is today India.

Be careful in writing about Buddha because so little is based on tradition and these traditions and oral histories and stories are often contradictory. The essence of his teaching, however, remains essentially the same.

India. I assume you are speaking of Buddha Gautama. There are a long line of Buddhas, and also Buddhism is practiced in countries other than India, such as Japan, and they have their own Buddhas.
