that is a hard one to try to accomplish the results would be skewed .. comparing tobacco to pot can't be done if pot was as readily avail as tobacco it would be a fair comparison but in its current illegal state its not a fair comparison

I would definitely search for protest sites or government-affiliated organizations. Maybe search the campaign that was occurring for Bob Dole. There were a couple other articles furnished that included a few more candidates wishing to legalize cannibis for recreational use. Barack Obama was also considering it as a method of getting himself re-elected. Using government officials to back your research paper is a for sure, shoe-in A+. Also, I'm not sure if you have Netflix, but there are many documentaries on marijuana on Netflix that show the breakdown and cause of people wanting to legalize the product. They are all very informative, and it also looks great on a research paper to have more than two different kinds of resources, i.e., books, internet, multimedia (Netflix). I wish you luck, and I hope I helped!

FACT: There is No Known Scientific Studies or Data ever
accrued that lists cause and Effect of Marijuana use.
Fact: Specific Scientific Studies and Huge Files of Data list
and prove the Ill Effects of Alcohol and Tobacco Use, as well as Every Prescription Drug Produced in the United States.
Fact: Scientific studies have shown though that Marijuana is a
strong and Natural Anti-Inflamatory, It also shows that it is a
Natural Fever Reducer, It is a Pain Reliever, It also has been proven "RECENTLY" to be useful in treating Alzhiemers-HMMM...........Cancer-Glaucoma-Arthritis-and now Alzhiemers
have proven to benefit from the Natural Herb we call Marijuana, and there is No scientific Data that shows Ill Effects of the use of this substance.
There is a Passage in our Bible (King James Version), that refers to the Healing Herb and Leafs and Trees and all other things God put on earth for the Benefit of Mankind which he Created. The question to this report would be Why is this still
an illegal substance yet Pharmaceuticals, and Alcohol and
Tobacco products are legal (These all have a long history
of Scientific Data that show and prove the Cause of ILL-EFFECT on humans, PlantLife, and most species of Animals
which they have tested these on. One more FACT:Not ONE CASE of CANCER has been proven to be linked remotely
or Based solemnly on the Use of Marijuana.Mankind has a funny way of outlawing the things which are natural-there is no monitary gains to be had if we all used the Natural things which God has provided for us. (The Legality was posed when the Government realised that they could not track or tax
the sale and use of a product that was grown naturrally without
making it a Legal substance that would be readily available to the General public (A Controlled Herb), and many christians who have not read their bibles truly in Context and in it's Entirety and they see the Hippie's and they gave it a label "DRUG"; this is the only reason why it was made illegal.

ammar31375 is totally incorrect, and I seriously doubt that he has had any first-hand experience with marijuana.

I can tell you honestly that marijuana is less addictive than anything, including alcohol or any other common recreational substance.

Smoking, per se, is not good for you no matter what the substance, but then, one does not need to SMOKE marijuana to enjoy its effects; it can be ingested just as easily, although it takes somewhat longer to enjoy the effects.

The problem - when it comes to society in general and recreational substances or ANY substances - is a matter of self-control.

Write that down ~ self-control.

Some folks can't stop stuffing food in their pie holes. Does that mean we should call doughnuts a "gateway food?" Look at the obesity problem in this country and TELL ME that we don't have a problem with food addiction!!!

Marijuana is a unique substance with unique effects.

Many people who enjoy alcohol - more than just beer or wine - find that pot simply doesn't satisfy their need for a "buzz."

Why? Because, simply and honestly, the effects of hard alcohol are much stronger than marijuana; at least the quality of marijuana we enjoy in the states.

Alcohol is a depressant, while marijuana is more of an "enhancer." The effects of the two are just totally different.

Of course, it is possible to get too much of ANY good thing...that's where the element of self-control comes in.

If you've ever observed people drinking socially, many will just sip their drinks and others just slam them down, because they're in a hurry to get a buzz.

Most people enjoying marijuana do NOT behave in this way. They take their time, trying to enjoy the experience; attempting to put themselves just "on the cusp" of pleasure. The point is not to get totally blotto, but to just slightly alter their experience.

Those folks who might choose to just smoke joint after joint are either smoking some pretty inferior weed, or they just have no self control.

It has less to do with the SUBSTANCE and more to do with the individual and their motivation to alter their consciousness.

Most people just desire to be a little giddy, or to take the edge off the day's stress, while others just can't stop until they're incoherent. Or too fat to fit through the doorway.

It is not unusual in ANY way for people to want to alter their consciousness; some do it with alcohol, some with weed, some with more addictive substances, and some through nothing more than meditation. In the end, it's all the same, whether you arrive "there" by "natural" or artificial means.

And "where" you want to be is more a function of the individual mind than the substance.

the bottom line is that there has never been a documented account of a person overdosing on marajuana.

you will hear people speak of marajuana as a 'gateway' drug, meaning that once used it leads to more hardcore narcotics - again, there is not a shred of empirical evidence to back this claim - though it is oft repeated and is accepted as fact. in fact, there is evidence to the contrary - but that won't stop people with dishonest agendas from repeating the lies that have become all too familiar.

the sad truth is that when compared to either nicotine or alcohol, marajuana is a very mild substance.

more people die from smoking nicotine than nearly all other diseases combined and our govt SUBSIDIZES it. one of the first things that was done when relations were opened with china and many other nations worldwide is that we started exporting cigarettes that contain as many as 10,000 different chemicals that aren't disclosed on labels due to 'privacy' issues.

over 80% of the people in prison for violent crimes report that they were under the influence of ALCOHOL when they did what it was that got them put in prison.
when prohibition on alcohol was tried for the decade of the 1920's the organized crime that grew to happily sell to the public what they wanted but the govt sought to control, is still with us today as a blight to all honest business people and normal citizens.

such is the price of disastrous public policy.

the prohibition against marajuana has gone on long beyond the time when it should have been eliminated purely because of a lack of intellectual honesty in our government.

lies are told abour marajuana so that dishonest politicians can 'look' tough on crime - while at the same time they turn their backs on white collar crime that cost millions of hard working americans their pensions or savings or get them roped into extortion rate credit cards and now even mafia like rates on home loans.

there is no rational reason why marajuana can't be controlled and distributed exactly the same way that alcohol is - not a single rational argument.

we do not run a 'parental' government, and frankly we as a nation are desperate for new souces of tax revenue - but we are all too quick to turn to gambling or lotteries and to top it off, some states are considering 'selling' their lotteries to private companies (just envision what that will look like).

why not legal and controlled marajuana?

particularly when it is born in mind that every dollar that would then go to a legal and controlled substance would be a dollar taken out of the pocket of the organized crime that currently supplies the nation with marajuana.

also, should we not all be allowed to chose for ourselves what it is we decide to consume in the privacy of our own homes.

we can have a can of beer, bottle of wine or snifter of brandy all enjoyed over a nice cigar or cigarette - all supplied to us by companies who neatly fund the politicians of their choice.

but we can't chose to smoke a different substance should we want to.

this simply makes no sense.

I've heard that pot prevents cancer (as opposed to cigarettes causing it).
I've never heard of anyone robbing, beating or killing someone just so they can smoke a joint.
Pot is natural (as is opium) and many other things that have been grown and used since before the middle ages, with no ramifications.
Pot is essentially healthy if used in moderation (like red wine), and the biggest side effect I've ever seen from someone who smoked it is they ate all of the animal crackers!

The biggest fact is that marijuana now has some medical usage in certain areas like cancer treatment programs. It's not a cure, but a symptomatic relief agent.

Fact is Marijuana is a gateway drug to harder drugs like cocaine, meth, and heroin, etc.....

Just because something is natural doesnt mean it will not hurt your health and well being.

It also alters short term memory and tends to make you feel sluggish.

There are medical benefits for cancer patients because of its ability to boost a sick persons appetite which is essential in recovering form that illness.

For recreation it is a bad idea to legalize it and let me be the first to say that alcohol is just as bad if not worse

Is this for school? This explains SOOOO much.

I am against the legalization of marijuana for the following reasons:
1. No way to test recency of use. This will complicate DUI's and auto accident liability cases.
2. Pot doesn't do anything positive for anyone. Sick people can get medication. I am unopposed to sick people getting mj from their doctors.
3. Legalizing mj will not get us out of debt (through taxation). It is too easy for people to grow their own.

The use of alcohol is highly criminalized. Please make this part of your over-all analysis, because it is true.
