I SAY IT DOES, CAUSE I CAN BE BOILING SOMETHING ON THE STOVE, AND LEAVE THE ROOM AND CAN HEAR IT IF IT BOILS OVER.

ALSO IF I FART BUT YOU CAN'T HEAR IT, YOU CAN STILL SMELL IT........

AND IF YOU LEAVE A ROOM CLEAN RETURN IN A MONTH AND THE ROOM IS DIRTY, IT DIDN'T GO ANYWHERE RIGHT......

SO ACTION AND SPACE IS ALWAYS THERE, SOUND, ECT.............

This being a philosophical question, technology gained't provide a suitable answer. The question is attributed to Irish empiricist George Berkeley, who all fact isn't autonomous of the concepts. the authentic nature of fact in accordance Berkeley is idealism. it really is perceived by technique of a concepts it extremely is transcendent, it extremely is God. So if a tree fell in the woodland and no unsleeping being about, it ought to nevertheless make a sound because God ought to grow to be attentive to the autumn.

why yes, yes it does still make a sound. sound comes from waves (/vibrations) in the air. the waves are there whether or not anyBODY is there, because they're an effect of the falling of the tree. and the waves always make a sound. they don't know if someone is there to hear it or not, they just do their thing.

That depends on the definition of sound. There are 2 possibilities.

Sound is only sound if a person hears it.
or
Sound is the variation of pressure that propagates through matter as a wave.

No it does not. The tree creates only the sound wave vibration but you need something to decipher it such as an ear. If we didn't have ears with tiny hairs to receive those vibrations then we would not hear any sound.

Hi. This may apply:
An elderly couple was attending church services...
about halfway through she leans over and says to her husband, "I just let out a silent fart - what do you think I should do?"

He replies, " Put a new battery in your hearing aid."

(See how the whole 'sound' thing ties in?)

Technically it does. Sound is merely particals in the air vibrating, so even if no one is around to here it, sound is still created by the fall.

If cap locks are on and nobody can hear the sound, does it still appear like you're screaming your fool head off?
