Mail order wives? Good or bad?

Personally American women and I just don’t get along so I was thinking of a mail order bride. What does everyone think.

I think seeking a "mail order bride" is a good decision as long as you keep your head about it. There are many advantages: First of all, you are able to look through literally hundreds of choices within hours, which allows you to easily select whatever fits you the best. Second of all, you can detach yourself from many of the emotional problems that go along with meeting women in the "traditional sense "(of course, for most of human history the "traditional sense" was arranged marriages or other forms of marriage in which "falling in love" was not an absolutely necessary pre-requisite to marriage). One thing is certain, however, you should visit her in her country before marriage. Statistically the marriage is much more likely to make it, at least in the short term.

I noticed some negative comments about this such as "mail-order brides are strange" or "seek other races within the diverse United States" or even "I worked with family law and she'll just leave you after a while."

First of all, mail order brides are no stranger than you are - after all you are thinking about getting one. They are more likely just normal girls who like to be romanced by someone exotic - everyone would like that.

Second of all, looking for other races within the United States isn't necessarily the same. The race is mostly irrelevant - Russians are white, but that doesn't make them anything like a white American girl. The important thing is her personality and her culture. If you enjoy foreign cultures and languages, then an American girls who is simply a different color won't satisfy you.

Thirdly, the lawyer's answer. Take note of the fact that lawyers only get involved where there are problems - no problem no lawyer. The fact that a family lawyer has seen a lot of family problems is to be expected, because that's when you go to see a family lawyer. Just because some run away doesn't mean they all will. Besides, statistically the American girl is even more likely to do so.

Let's sum up: more choice, efficiency, and arguably more in line with how humanity has been doing things for thousands of years. Disadvantages: red-tape, reaching into the unknown, airline tickets.

In my experience, men who want a mail order bride want one because they are insecure for some reason or another. You should be able to find someone you are compatible with in the U.S. with all the diversity there is here. I think you should work on whatever it is about yourself that is rubbing women the wrong way. Women are women regardless of where they are from, and have the same basic needs. No matter who you decide to marry, whether it be here or from another country, I hope you will treat her with the dignity and respect she deserves. You should do this even if she doesn't demand it in the same way some American women might.

Not too sure where I stand on this, but the postage is appallingly expensive, so that might be worth bearing in mind.

I'm joking about it because I don't like the fact that it reduces people to commodities; it's co-opting one of the most intimate relationships we can have with another person and putting a price on it. Just because people are sometimes willing to do things for/to you doesn't mean that it's right for you to take them up on the offer (it's exploitation). These girls/women should be encouraged to form these relationships with people they actually care for.

And what is so wrong with American women? I'm an Englishman and don't see the problem - they generally know their own minds, which might make for more arguments but that is part of the passion (the fun) in a relationship. Doesn't the prospect of decades of uncomplaining obedience sound hellishly boring? You can't have the good times without the bad times, so why choose the dull times?
