why mercury was hotter long ago but not now?

The sun was younger long ago, and young stars are hotter so Mercury would have to be hotter.

It is only 0.466 698 35 AU that is really close so it is still warm there and has not gotten colder.

Mercury has not cooled. I have no idea where you got such bad information.
