(its kind of odd where he found them... where he found the names... well... "you see it every day" when you walk around your neightborhood you see it, when you drive your car you see it, when you go get your mail... you see it.) my Clue

Well, the original characters(Homer, Marge, Lisa, and Maggie) were named after his family; when the series started up more characters(like Patty) were also named after his family. The writers even, purely coincidentally, named grandpa after Matts Grandfather(Abraham). Other characters(like Kearney) were named after streets in his hometown of Portland.
