You have just been elected President of the USA. What do you do to stop terrorism?

The President has limitations, cannot make laws or raise funds.
First, I would tell Ayatollah Khameini that I want those sailors returned alive and well within 24 hours, or we send in the Marines and dismantle their nuclear program.
Then I would declare National Holocaust and Armenian Genocide Memorial Month sometime soon. Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it. Let's not forget. (There is pressure now in the UK to stop teaching Holocaust history, because it conflicts with some Muslim students' "beliefs." Can you guess where this is leading?)
Get things under control in Iraq and Afghanistan (easy, huh?).
I would continue efforts to secure our borders while remaining good friends with our neighbors. (Remember, once Germany offered Mexico the states of Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona, if Mexico would help invade the US. Mexico said no.)
Thank God, I am not President, frankly the job would be too hard for me.

Pull out of the U.N. , tell them where to go and reclaim the building. Next I would try and get legislation passed that allowed physical punishment in schools. I would continue in Iraq, and would push for an amendment allowing the vetoing of riders on Congressional bills.

Keep the pressure on terrorist groups abroad and thereby try and keep them at bay. I would also pursue the environmental terrorist groups here in America. It would be impossible to eliminate our dependence on oil in 2 years, 4 years or probibly 8 years so I wouldn't even try; ethanol is going to starve people because we are burning food.

Seize Iran's oil derricks if the Brit sailors aren't freed by the end of the week. If they still aren't freed destroy their only refinery and station a carrier group and a boomer in the Persian Gulf giving me a powerful place to negotiate from.

I would just go for broke and be the worst hated Pres in history. I would finish the job in Iraq as quickly as possible (which is probably not possible to do quickly). I would turn my head towards Iran and N. Korea and put the fear of God into them. Tighten security at home, pissing off more travelers-oh well. From then on out I would work to get the rest of the world's support so it doesn't feel like we are the "police of the world" because we an't fiscally go on like this- yeah that might get me re-elected

I would go turn ALL of Iraq, Iran, and the other stupid countries that just want to kill people into nothing but sand. Bring all of our servicemen and women home and worry about the problems here in the USA. Also, put guards at our borders and tell the illegals to turn around and go home, if they tried to sneak in I'd have them shot and thrown back across the border. And I would quit the free trade, get the American jobs back where they belong, here for the AMERICANS to work.

the problem goes so deep it's hard to know where to begin.. to start with, I would bring spanking back to our schools.. yes, this would help with terrorism in the long run.. here's why.. everyone hates Americans because they see us as arrogant.. this arrogance starts with undisciplined kids.. kids need to be taught humility and respect when they're still kids so that they can grow up to become humble and respectful adults.. eventually, if we can reduce the arrogance of our citizens, the world will not hate us quite so much.. thus reducing the number of terrorists out to get us.. of course there are many other things we could do, but this is where I would start if I was president..

Stop being the Police to the world. Not everyone wants our type of government in their country. Look how things are doing "so well" in Iraq since we got rid of their dictator.

Push a fortune into the next "revolution" of our society; alternative energy. Make this like a NASA to the moon project. We will develop energy that does not require oil.
