Ever since Bill Clinton was elected president there's been a campaign of hatred against Hillary. They criticized her hair, clothes, everything she said, that she stayed with Bill, that she was a working woman. What has she done that really disserves all the hatred that's directed at her? Congress spent over $40 million investigating the Clintons and couldn't find anything!

She seems like a smart, strong woman. She's a good mother and has raised a strong, independent daughter. She's been a twice-elected senator from NY. And she showed more strength than anyone I know during the assault upon Bill during the whole impeachment process.

What, specifically, riles you so, besides the usual attacks, please.

Ariella2 - I hear that response and wonder about the Right's constant drum beat for "family values." Isn't it a Christian value to forgive? Isn't it a family value to keep your family together if you can resolve a problem together? It seems to me that she loves her husband and has resolved to stay with him and work things out. That's bad? Mrs. Haggard is staying with her husband and he's gay!

Truthsayer - she's trying to make medical care available to everyone. We're already paying, indirectly, for the uninsured, with the extremely high cost of health care. When people go to the doctor and can't pay, the rest of us pay higher rates. It's not socialism, it's common sense.

I had to comment after reading all your answers. I only saw two answers that had any specifics to them and in both cases they are way off base. First the guy who mentioned the whole Black Panther thing. That was debunked a long time ago: http://www.snopes.com/politics/clintons/...

Then someone mentioned her comments about a Right Wing Conspiracy during the impeachment mess. When Hillary made that comment, she was absolutely right. As you have already mentioned, the Republicans spent millions trying to prove all sorts of unproven garbage and against them and failed miserably. She was referring to their crusade against the Clintons, which absolutely existed, and exists still.

They are a trip aren't they? They are very afraid of her, that is clear. I just wish I could figure out why - beside the fact that she is a - gasp! - woman and the fact that she will come into office and show Bush up completely by straightening out this mess he's gotten us into.

I don't think it's really going to matter much to her campaign. Most voters know all this old claptrap, they've heard it ad nauseum for years. Those who hate her so much are really just yapping at each other and not really convincing anyone that she is Satan. In order to do that they'd have to have facts instead of b.s. and regurgitating old unproven garbage. They were plotzing all over each other about her huge contribution numbers. On top of it 80% of her campaign contributions came from grass roots people like myself who have contributed $100 or less. They really don't want to do that math, it means she has huge support.

The hate comes from those on both sides, do you ever read the comments on Bush or Cheney or really any Republican. Hilary has escalated the hate to her by ranting about a right wing conspiracy against Bill and her. There is no conspiracy when people opposed to her work to defeat her and her issues that is politics. Hillary and her proposal for universal health care was seen and still is by many to be a major budget buster for the Feds if undertaken so yes that proposal will generate a lot of opposition to her at a time when conservatives want ot reign in an out of control federal spending spree. Strength when it might have been staged since her future political career is tied to his legacy really is not strength. And the investigation did show things thats why some in the Adm ended up in jail and some still should like his National Security council who saw fit to steal govt documents in his pants during the 9-11 commission.

Because she is a strong, intelligent woman who has more political "smarts" than most of the people inside the Beltway. She is well liked, is a terrific Senator.

Most people bring up her husbands infidelity and the fact that she and Bill have obviously decided to work it out. They forget that 72% of men and 51% of women cheat on their spouses. Their married life is personal and should have no inclusion in the public arena.

Many people fear a woman like Sentator Clinton...it makes many feel "less of a man" themselves.

She will whip this country into shape, repair all the damage Bushie has done, bring about a national health care program, cut out a lot of the corruption and the graft that exists in Washington.

All those harumphing and bellicous politicians in Washington are scared to death that she is going to out them for the windbags they are.

When she is President, many males will have a big problem finding that certain part of their anatomy that is located somewhere between their belts and their knees.

She changes her mind a lot on many issues, and it seems mostly to please voters.

Also, I agree with what was said about the military. She despises the military. Bill hurt the military quite a bit when he was in office, but I believe she hates it even more. Being married to a military man, I'm afraid to see what harm she may do, since it will affect my family directly.

I think some people hater her because of her gender, people will not know how to react if Hillary is elected president. People think that she's too liberal and make the goverment too involved in businesses and single rights. In my opinion, I think she is the person needed for this country. She's smart, strong, and has alot of experience with the goverment. She will take care of the trash that was left by Bush and his goverment. My vote will definately go to her.

I starred your question because I really wanted to know that too. Thanks for asking it for me. The responses were as expected, either about Bill or the fact that she's a woman. But both of those reasons are not very good ones.

It is quite odd. It's usually the Christian Right that really hates her. interesting in that the 2 things she is somewhat famous for are 1. wanting universal healthcare & 2. forgiving her husband for cheating on her.

supposedly christians are to care for the poor & be forgiving.

I think it's because she represents her husband & he caught them(the right) by surprise, upsetting the "Project for a New American Century" - she is the embodiment of their failure.

I don't care for her because she is too polished of a politician. Specifically, on the Iraq war vote - she should say that she ****ed up by voting yes to giving Bush the authority to attack Iraq. She is trying to look more hawkish then she is.

Edwards is the guy I think.

I hope you get some good answers to your question. The fearsome thing is that there is a large amount of irrational fear of Senator Clinton. Start with your mysogenists, move on past the morons, and run the gamut all the way to homophobic neocons.

If Hillary can win the presidential election she can do anything. World peace, eternal prosperity, you name it . . . a piece of cake compared to getting elected by the good ol' boy network.

...because she is actually a serious contender who could upset the status quo's apple cart. If her mettle can be corroded ever so slightly, then maybe her critics have a chance in diminishing her staying power, and hence, her electability. Unfortunately for her, regardless of her credentials, she is tethered to the vitriolic polarity that has embattled our nation in the last 12 years. It seems a bit surreal that the presidential ping pong game should continue between the Clinton's and the Bushes.

I would consider myself a conservative liberal and I always vote for the person not the party. I really dont like Hillary because I get a kind of condescending attitude off her when I see her on TV. I dont know why but I do. She may be a very respectable person as far as being a mother and a human being but I would not like to see her as a President. I do think she is a little to liberal for me also.
