Would I be more protected taking it at exactly 7:01pm every day than someone who takes it at 6:30 some days, 7 other days and 7:30 other days?

I heard there's a 2 hour window...
but if I take it exactly on the dot (7:01) then will that mean better protection?

Taking the pill at the same day exactly also insures that you will not have problems with irregular bleeding like you would if you tried to change the time to a different part of the day such as if someone is working on a package already.

If you accidentally forget to take the medication until 1 or 2 minutes later you are ok. I asked my dr about this one time.

You're suppose to take it at the same time every day. It's a 24 hour pill, meaning if you are off by a few hours then you could possibly get pregnant. I took it for years and would sometimes do what you just did and I never got pregnant if that helps any. The withdraw method isn't really considered a form of BC so no, it really doesn't help the situation. I'm sure you're fine as long as you took it within a couple hours of when you normally do.

LOL wow I guess if I had taken mine at the exact time each day, I wouldn't be having baby #4 soon. J/K
No, the exact time each day simply means the same time. Example, if you are used to taking it at 8 am then it just means take in the morning. And usually there is a 2 hour window, but that's flexible too. I doesn't mean if your 2 hours and 15 minutes late, your sol. Relax, hun, it doesn't mean that you will be better protected, it just means that you will be protected, period. There isn't such a thing as being better protected, either you are or aren't. Hope that helped.

Everything Ive heard from doctors and read in the info packets says that you should take it at the same time every day. Especially low-dose birth control pills. Im not sure how much the effectiveness is altered by hours, probably not much... but I'm not a doctor. If you start missing days, then the effectiveness is certainly lowered.

It depends what pill you are on. Combined pills (monophasic and triphasic pills ) have a 12 hour window, but the mini-pill (progesterone-only pill) has a just three hour window. Varying by only half an hour isn't going to change its efficiency. It's a good idea to take it at the same time every day, but that's more to get you into the routine of taking it - like always having it with breakfast or lunch.

Ideally, you take your pill at the same time each day; however, the difference simply isn't that critical. I was on the pill for MANY years, and usually took it about the same time each day, but sometimes took it a little earlier or later. Never became pregnant until I came off the pill and WANTED to become pregnant - which is exactly how it's supposed to work :-)

Today's birth control pills have such a low dose of hormones that taking at the same time, every day, is just about mandatory for them to be as effective as possible. Not taking at the same time every day is why they tend to fail.

Just set the alarm function on your PDA, with a daily repeat and no end date.

my fiancee takes it at different times like 7 7:30 sometimes she forgets and will have it at 8 and we have been ok but really if it says to have it the same time everyday then you should take it the same time everyday because your obviously using it to prevent being pregnant so follow the instructions as it tells you because even when on the pill you can still get pregnant

You should take it at the same time each day so that your hormone levels stay the same. But if you mess up, it's probably not a big deal. If you miss a day, take both the next day. If you're having trouble remembering, try a shot or a patch.
