Okay folks,
The word "single" (as in a relationship) means NOT married. I don't know where people get this idea that "single" means not dating anyone. I've heard conversations where people are asked "Are you single?" And the person answers "no". Then, I learn that all they are refering to is that they are not seeing anyone. GET IT RIGHT! "Single" means not married. Has anyone else noticed this new terminology???

Since the new trend is that single parent families outnumber marrieds, I can see how traditions get all screwed up.

well, when you sign up for stuff or have to check a check mark
single means not married (because its for legality stuff)...

when talking to a person, you should not say you are single if you are dating someone (have a boyfriend or girlfriend)

actually it means one and unmarried, so technically if you are in a commited realtionship and you're not alone you are not "single" . the common evolution of the word is simply single = available.
