Spray the roundup and then wait a few days then plant grass. Roundup is inactivated once it hits the soil.

Round up is deactivated by the soil providing you have clay or a relatively high organic matter level in the soil. So no problem with the soil.

As for how long it takes to kill pachysandra, first the plant needs to be growing well, not just starting out. Then add a bit of dish soap to the mix, a few drops, to help it hold onto the leaf. Then it will take at least 2 weeks before you know something is happening. In the mean time continue to care for the groundcover as if you hadn't sprayed it. It must be healthy enough to move the chemical to the roots. If after 3 weeks it looks like another spray job is in order, go for it. Usually 2 applications is sufficient. Once the plants are dead...or nearly so, remove them. Replenish the soil with phosphorus or a starter type fertilizer before replanting with grass...........HOWEVER, most people plant pachysandra because it is too shady for grass. Has something changed???

ill keep it simple round up is a season long product but after 24 hrs. you can start watering the soil. do it often for 4 weeks (that's the recommended time to plant grass after a chemical has been applied) hopefully after that the round up should be gone.
