yes, you do use the y2-y1 / x2-x1 to get teh slope (m) of the line.

In this case, the slope is (7-7)/(5- -1) = 0

Since the slope is 0, this means that the line is horizontal.

Normally, if the slope was not 0, then you would use the y = mx+b equation and put in any of the 2 points you have and then solve for the b.

Like I will use the first point here
y = mx + b
y = 0x + b
7 = 0 *(-1) + b
b = 7

So the equation of the line is y=0x + 7
So y = 7.

I hope you understood that.

FYI: If you use the second point, you will end up with the same equation.

As the points have the same " y "the equation is y=7 the slope is 0 and intercept =7

You have it there. Using the co-ordinates -

(-1,7) and (5,7) are in the form (x1,y1) (x2,y2)

so using that formula, you get -

(7-7)/(-1-5) = 0

so this is a straight line passing through 7 on the y axis

y = 7

Using the slope formula, you get (7-7)/(5--1) or 0/6, which is just 0.
So far, your equation looks like y=0x + ?

Plug in x,y using either pair (I'll use 5,7 to avoid negatives)
y=0x+?
7=0(5)+?
7=0+?
7=?

In other words, your equation is y=0x+7, which is just y=7. That's why both the y-values are 7. It's a horizontal line passing right through 7.

This is a horizontal straight line going through 7 on the y-axis. It has a slope of 0. The answer is:

Y=7

The answer has no slope. (hint: same y-intercepts)
