If there is no hive in the tree the individual bees will only stay a short while and return to the hive. Scientists have proven that bees can communicate the direction and distance of good sources of nectar so, once found, the whole hive may come and visit. The bees will return to the hive before nightfall.
As to how long the bees will stay (returning to the tree) the answer is simple - as long as the tree is a good source of nectar, that is as long as the tree flowers. Hope this help, B
