There are many persons mostly men that are completely lost in their role in life. They cannot let go of their lost teenage years, some because they have mental shortcomings and cannot bridge that gap, others refuse to grow up and cannot let go of their mothers skirts and consequently bring them down with them to poverty and despair.

I'm guessing that you are proof of that. I do think that as we get older some doors close. Forget about being a Basketball star, for example. You should get intensive with your quest, and narrow it down to something you can achieve in two years or less. Many vocations fit those objectives. The local employment office can provide resources for you to find out what you may be good at, and steer you in a focused direction.

Some of the most interesting 40 year olds i've met still don't know what they want to do with their lives.

OMG yes!! At 40, I was finally doing what I really wanted.....then circumstances changed and I am now unable to do that.....so it's back to square one!!! What am I gonna do with my life!!!

You bet, I was 37 before I decided. And even now, sometimes I don't know EXACTLY what I want to be when I grow up. Until I figure it out, I'll keep playing with computers, scuba diving, loving my wife and enjoying a cold Corona while watching a sunset.

Totally, and nothing wrong with it either, I've just left the corporate world after18 years. Want no part of it, am studying something way different, and chasing my dream instead.

many people never knew what they wanted to do with their life an turned out successful.
these are people who seize each moment, and don't plan ahead. they go wherever life brings them.

That is sad..but i guess u can be 40 and still not know watcha bout to do i mean lyfe is aight but u know theres lots of crap u can do
