I've been on BC for almost 2 years now. Haven't gotten pregnant. And I hope I don't jinx myself for answering this question!!

No, but not sure I'm the best example.
They are actually only 97% effective. Consider that they are susceptible to many different factors, such as whether or not the woman smokes or drinks around the same time of day that she takes the medication. If you take an antacid within 2 hours of taking the Pill, you can severely disrupt its efficiency. Same with drinking grapefruit juice. If a woman is not punctual about taking the Pill, its efficiency dramatically declines. Not only that, but it's a pain in the butt to remember every morning.
Those of us who take it for the wonderful side effects (i.e. menstrual control) may be more motivated to remember to take it; those who take it for contraceptive purposes usually are not quite so vigilant.
Because the pill regulated my hormones, I actually lost weight, which is typical with the super-low dosage pills available in Canada.
Basically, it's wonderful and effective, but you would be safest to have a secondary type of brith control, such as a lubricant with spermicide or a condom.

I am on them... been for a LONG time.
Pregnant? Not on them... took last pill....I went on my monthly.... it ended... didn't start taking my pills again because insurance ran out...got pregnant 2 days after monthly ended....Now I have a 3 year old son! So technically I was not on the pill...even though they say it can take months to get pregnant after extended use....Guess it doesn't apply to me!

I took them for a short period of time back long ago. No, I did not get pregnant while taking them. I took them for about a year.

Am and have been for 20+ years except for the time I was trying to conceive and have my children. Wouldn't trade them for the world! No cramps, no long periods, no heavy bleeding. It's wonderful!

I took them for a year or so. I stopped because they made me gain weight. Then I got pregnant and gained lots of weight.

never took them but i know of girls that have gotten pregnant off of them and i wanna know for the ones that have been on them and had sex while on them. did you still use a condom or some other form of protection?
