Yes you can use bleach in Dishwasher To clean, use regular powdered laundry bleach instead of liquid bleach in an empty machine. It cleans and disinfects better. .

Before loading the silverware tray, place a sponge in the bottom. It will prevent small utensils from falling to the bottom.

To remove stains from the inside of the dishwasher, set a cup of bleach in the bottom of the dishwasher and run it through the entire cycle. Then run a cup of vinegar through an entire cycle. DO NOT mix the bleach and vinegar as it will cause poisonous gases in the dishwasher.

When removing dishes from the dishwasher, unload the bottom rack first so that water that has pooled in glasses or cups on the top rack doesn't drip onto the dishes below.

Using Bleach In Dishwasher

Not quite sure what I did wrong..but..I put 1/2 cup of bleach in the bottom of my dishwasher. Added the Cascade Advanced (liquid) dishwasher soap. Turned it on. A few minutes later I thought it didn't sound quite right. Bubbles were flowing out the bottom of the washer onto the floor. Now I know not to add bleach to sanitize. Though I'm not sure why.....

Yes, you could, only occasionally. A small amount. I would assume only 1/8 cup or so.

It might be best to go to the manufacturers web site and check out what they have to say on the subject, first.

Normally, dishwasher soap already contains some amount of bleach, so be careful. Additionally, pouring into your garbage disposal (which shares a common line with your dishwasher), about a 1/2 cup of bleach will help with the cleanliness and odor reduction. Turn on the hot water, run the garbage disposal, let run for about 25 - 30 seconds. Turn off the disposal and water. Carefully pour the bleach into the disposal, let stand for approximately 1 minute. Then, turn the hot water back on and the disposal and let it thoroughly wash through. Be careful to protect your clothing from any back spray from the disposal during this process.

Hope this is helpful.

I would not use bleach in a dishwasher. Too many plastic seals and hoses that could get ruined with chemical reaction. Most DW's have a heating element that takes the water temp to around 140 degrees.

NO NO NO NO do not put bleach in your dishwasher there's stuff designed for dishwashers to sanitize and clean your dishes use ONLY what is suggested by your diswasher manufacturer's instructions because anything other than what they instruct can ruin the dishwasher.

Quite honestly, if my dishwasher cannot stand a tbs of bleach through it once a month I would rather buy another dishwasher....come on guys, it should be clean, germ free and not smell......just give it an empty hot run after the bleach run to eliminate any residue.
