You lack clarity about what you want to do with your life, what moves you, what you want to achieve. I suggest you try the following. Write down the answers to these questions...
- What matters most to you?
- What kinds of work activities sound like fun?
- What areas of life are you most interested in?
- What payoffs do you hope to get from work?
- What do you want to do really well?
- What do you want to learn more about?
- Imagine what your ideal life will be like 10 years from now...
This will help draw out the things you really care about...your passionate interests. You are right to ask this question...answering it is the right way to choose a career.

You are indecisive right now maybe because you haven't narrowed down your choices enough yet. Make a list of the things that really interest you, that you would consider doing for a living. Then narrow it down to maybe 2 or 3 things and try to decide from there. You don't know how you will do until you actually get into the business and learn the ropes and workings of the job. You may feel anxious about whther or not you will be good enough to do it, but you never know until you try. We all screw up at first when we start learning something new, but that's how experts become experts. They work through the mistakes and learn from them and then continue on. You can do anything you set your mind and heart to do. Whatever you decide put your best foot forward and don't be afraid of failure. Sometimes, failure opens another door that leads to something even better. I wish you luck in whatever you choose to do and am sure you will be a success.Believe in yourself and your abilites!

Ugh, I was like that for 37 years...I'm now 40 and just a few years ago discovered what I am 'passionate' about...computers and Internet design.
That is not to say that I am not passionate about a lot of things, but everything else won't earn you a living such as reading, scuba diving, eating Asian food and such!
I know how you feel. The only thing I can suggest is taking a bunch of cheap community college classes and find what gets your mind going. You may very well surprise yourself. I returned to school to study Business Travel Management. I had to take a couple computer classes and I was HOOKED! I changed my major to Web design and E-Commerce development.

Some people are afraid of taking decisions simply because of the fear of being wrong. But no decision is important at all, And, no decision is right or wrong. Even wrong decisions are not the end of the world. Better practice taking decisions without thinking first. Just throw a dice or a coin and accept the decision that wins the toss or rolling of the dice.
Remain undecided and implement decisions for your life based on toss of coin, throw of dice and such other gambling device without fear. You will soon get addicted to taking decisions. Then you will evaluate your decisions post facto. After some time you will develop intution and be able to judge whether you shall implement the decision thrown of the toss of coin and rollong of the dice or make up your mind independently or go by your intution.
So remain undecided but go on implementing decisions that are thrown up by chance.

I think you are passionate, your fear is passionate. I think you are afraid to commit. You need to commit to what you want to be in the next 20 years. And don't worry about making it, just do that one day at a time. I have a Ph.D. in psych and I made really high grades, but I was afraid of failing and screwing up. But I did it anyway. And I am glad I did.
Now, do you want to say the same thing five years from now? I'm glad I did it. Or do you want to be writing another question about not being passionate enough.
Quit feeling and get busy! Jump! Take the "leap of faith." I have faith you can do it.

At some level deep inside you, you know you have something you will feel very passionate about. Your challenge at this point in your life is to discover that passion.
Look at the opportunities in front of you (a job, internship, etc.) as 'stepping stones' that will help you discover and/or prepare for serving your passion. These opportunities are not 'dead-ends' or 'wrong roads', but rather, a piece of life's puzzle that will guide you and serve you in your quest to find and serve your true passion.
Best wishes and good luck.

don't force it. maybe it will come maybe it won't. committing to something is good but don't think it has to be the rest of your life. chances are you will drastically change your path at least once before you retire. and that's a good thing.

Ashtray? Why Ashtay? Do you think this lowly of yourself? I suspect depression is clouding your creativity. Ask yourself why you assess yourself this way.
