First Romanticism is based on Napolean's conquest of Europe, since Napolean was a common man not born from nobility, he actually was born in a very low level nobel family. Poe was a write during the tail end of the European romantic movement. Poe wrote around the same time as Victor Hugo, one of France's great romantic writer. Poe like Hugo wrote about the common man, the common individual instead of Dukes, Kings, and Earls.
