If you must put shoes on an infant make them soft crib shoes, other shoes are just too heavy for their tiny feet. Either than that just wait until the child starts standing around or using the walker to help the baby walk.

let them go barefoot as much as possible. They develop better that way. Shoes can be more harm than good to younger babies..Shoes I didnt put shoes on my daughter until she was ready to walk. Which was 14 months old. Before that it was only for special occasions or for photos. There is no real need for it

There are soft-soled shoes that are fine for a baby in a stroller to wear, they don't need to be "walked-on" shoes to be really cute...

My sons both wore shoes at 5 weeks of age (soft soled) on rare occasions. There's nothing wrong with that.

I never put shoes on my son until he could walk--and even then he only wore them outside. We're doing the same with our new baby.

Once they can walk. Even then, you want to go barefoot as long as possible, and soft soles the other times.
