We atheists are nothing like what the church leaders are fond of charicaturing us as. We are freethinking individuals who are able to see the Big Picture without the blinders of religion.
We do not live in despair, quite the contrary; freethought is incredibly refreshing, liberating, and empowering. We are not nihilists, but lovers of life who see it as all the more precious because there's no eternal afterlife. We do not need the bribe of heaven or the threat of hell to be good people, we believe in being good for its own sake.
Through science and reason, we know more about the true nature of the world we live in than your religion could ever hope to offer
The fear of death is a natural thing, which is why you need to think hard about living your life for the moment. We are not the enemy of christians and other theists. Our quarrel is with irrationality, wishful thinking, superstitions, intellectual dishonesty, and all other forms of thinking that keep mankind mired in darkness, ignorance and hate.
Sometimes i do get depressed over our utter death and annihilation, but it just renews my zest to make the most of this life.

A non-believer myself, I keep myself going by setting goals. For instance, right now I'm in high school, so my goal is to get into college. After that, I will work towards getting a job I like. I try to set goals that are achievable, but will keep me motivated.
A friend of mine, also an atheist, works towards making the world a better place. For her, I think that is what keeps her going, but I don't know for sure.

Simply, themselves. That they know the are on this earth and they are just as good as anyone else and they can accomplish things and make a difference. Things may be hard but if they dont believe in god... then really none of it matters because life would be meaningless and there is nothing after its just you live a life you die its the end.

There are so many things exclude God in life to make non-belivers keep going. Like the people you care and the people whose care about you. These people around you are real, they are with you when you need help. Where are God when you have no place to stay? No food to eat? No clothe to wear? Sick and no money to seek medical attention? God meant nothing compare to the people care for you and you care.

Nothing. For a disbeliever to be created from nothing and then to have hearing, vision and understanding granted to them and then turn around and dispute and disagree about The One God who created them with all 3 falculties has nothing to believe in. In The Holy Quran (God's last revelation to all of adam and Eve's children) God says:" he is the creator of all things." well my question to you would be, wouldn't "nothing" be a thing created by The Magnificient One God? God is the creator of disbelief as well as belief and he also says that besides him you have no other helpers. So if anyone decides to believe in anything else besides their Magnificient Creator, they invent lies and God has also said that" their false inventions will leave them in the lurch ,and on the day of judgement their false ideas and beliefs will abandon them and they will have NOTHING to help them. God also says that "when the soul of a disbeliever is ripped from its body at death and returned to God for judgement, that then they will believe but it will be to late." So if a person dosent believe in The creator of the heavens and the earth then they believe in nothing, and nothing will help them on judgement day.Hell is reality seen too late. PEACE.

If by "non-believers" you mean those who do not believe in any form of a supreme being, then it appears you also are assuming they have no beliefs at all.
I dispute this. They simply divert their beliefs from a supreme being to other objects and consequently can (and probably do) derive contentment from these beliefs, no matter how misinformed they seem to you.

Most end up making themselves gods and worship the things that give them pleasure. Money, nature, music - I think one of the answerers said good food and wine... It is just sad that it ends up being "all about me". It just defies reason that an individual would look at the awesome spectacle of life and the grand scale of our world and our universe and come to the conclusion that it is all about their pleasure. God has so much more planned for them if they would only open themselves to Him...

I have faith that one day all people will believe in themselves. I think that all people, believers or not, should believe in themselves and not base their worth of measure in life using the ideals of opinions of others, real or spiritual.
We measure our life by our own measure. We find that our satisfaction in our ability to perform tasks in life. We keep ourselves 'going' because, since we live for only ourselves, our happiness is our primary focus.
If you base your happiness and/or faith in other people or things, you will always have that sense of disappointment and displeasure. Face it, most people suck.

I am not sure that they really believe in anything to keep them going, other than their selfish ambitions and desires which are empty. Nothing on earth can satisfy or keep you going, only God can fill that void and give you perseverance.
