Last thursday, I found out that I got into both. I am undecided about which university I should go to-- UCLA or Cal?

What are the pro's/con's of each school?

You should follow the other advise people... I'll just offer an unofficial summary of things you may not hear in books... since I've been to both campuses many times

Cal - The Campus basically runs the town of Berkeley. A lot of emphasis on academics. Slightly better academically than LA. San Francisco is nearby & there's almost always life around the campus (although a bit hippy). The weather is usually a nice 70 or so degrees

UCLA - Great/beautiful campus (most would say better than Cals). Slightly more social and active student body. Located in Westwood (one of the richest parts of LA) near Santa Monica & Beverly Hills. Great sunny weather. Great academics and sports teams to cheer for. Expensive to live in but clean and affluent.

There's too much to say but most would choose Cal. It is recognized and respected a bit more nationally & internationaly for its academics than LA.

UCLA if you wish to have the academics but with a bit more of a social life. LA area scene vs. San Francisco area scene to also take into consideration.

Berkeley has a better academic reputation, so no matter which major you end up choosing, you'll have the recognition of being a Cal grad. But you'll get a fine education at either campus, so you should consider your personal preference and any financial concerns. Visit the campuses and see which one you like enough to be there for at least 4 years.

I recommend on going to the one that is the higher rated for your college major. US News and World Reports has a wonderful list updated every year. Another method is who gave you the best financial aid package with the least amount of student loans if you completed the FAFSA form. I have included a few lists below. Good luck!

ucla=more liberal. more diverse in terms of education and social life. (godly campus, godly city)
cal=highly concentrated on academics. (cal has the biggest campus in california, but not necessarily the best)

most ppl will choose Cal. education there is better than that of UCLA. UCLA is a prestigious school, but is not known for excellent majors.

if ur going for math/science programs, CAL for sure.
really dpends on wut ur looking for.

if u want national rank..... 21=cal 26=la

keep in mind that most ppl will choose Cal over LA neday.

Congratulations!
Never got in those but think about it just like you're deciding any other colleges.
Consider:
your interests
environment
if you want crowded spaces (well, for both is a lot)
have you visited them? visit and tour as many times as you need!
