It is weird Some of the Video makes me think the Brits were not armed.
Another view showed numerous boats in the area. I think they were completely surprised. That doesn't answer the question but it set the stage for response.
As a former US Marine I don't think 15 guys would have gone down without a fight. But Marines would have had their weapons and would have blasted the Iranians and the French helicopter. He would have been shot out of the sky under the assumption that it was a hostile. As to why the Brits did not resist we can only guess. My thought is they thought the Helicopter was a gun ship and felt defenseless.

Being that I was in Marines, one of the Marines would have taken out the whole Iranian navy, while our sailors would have crapped in their pants,.And then the other Marines, would have killed some sharks with their teeth.

The first thought that came into my head when I heard on the news about the Britts being kidnapped, was Thank God they were not Americans, because if they were they would have been tortured and killed almost instantly, and the reason? because of idiot's like Nancy Pelosi undermining the Troops and everything they have achieved, and the American people as a whole and theyr'e elected goverment, and making the Americans look like fools in front of the world.
The only reason they did not KILL the British hostages is because the European Union still has a hold over them, nothing more nothing less, that is probably the only reason that they are still alive today.

Me thinks their would be several Iranians floating in the Persian gulf today serving as fish food if they tried this on our Navy and Marines. The Marines on board would have dropped those islamos like a bad habit.

.no person is conscious precisely what they might do in this variety of difficulty. The commanding officer has to weigh the possibilities of survival and the political implications on a moments be conscious. so a great way as all of us be conscious of, no photographs have been fired to set off the British to to act in firing returned. The commanding officer might might desire to degree the possibilities against the greater proper firing skill of the Iranians and take a process action that could require self-maintenance. there have been historic examples of our sailors surrenduring below those very circmstances. as an occasion: the "Mayaguez Incident", might 12-15, 1975 , whereupon the Khymer Rouge of Cambodia took our sailors hostage: The January 23, 1968 united statesS Pueblo Incident, whereupon a NSA surveillence deliver became fired upon (a million sailor killed and & 7 wounded) and captured by potential of North Korean forces. the yank group spent 11 months in captivity formerly being released: And, one that could desire to be stated even nonetheless our sailors weren't captured is the united statesS Liberty Incident in June/July of 1967 in the process the "Six Days conflict." This became an American NSA surveillence deliver of the coast of the Sinai peninsula in international waters. The deliver became attacked without provocation by potential of Israeli protection Forces, first by potential of straffing it, then napalmed, and finally torpedoed by potential of Israeli gunboats. Thirty-4 of our sailors have been unjustfiably murdered by potential of our best buddy Israel. It became John McCain's father Admiral John McCain Sr. who ordered the liberty's sailors to silence in this act of aggression. President Johnson, it fairly is been discovered now, stated this--"i don't care how a lot of our American boys have been killed, i won't be able to attack our buddy and best buddy Israel." This makes you think of formerly firing, does not it?

Descretion is the better part of valor.
Do you remember when a US P-3 went down in China? Did they fight their way out? Or did they guard the plane to the best of their ability and wait for their country to come to their rescue. Leave no man (or woman) behind.

Hey tough guy, not all human beings walk the earth looking for an excuse to pull a trigger. There is something called the rules of engagement. GB isn't at war with Iran, therefore they are not allowed to fire on an Iranian boat except in self-defense. The US military has the same rules of engagement bozo.
