Kareem????
You mean the all-time leading scorer in the NBA, you mean the guy that help bring NBA Championships to Milwaukee and Los Angeles (6 between the two cities), besides 3 NCAA Championships to UCLA. I think the best all around Center ever in the game. Remember they changed the rules right before he entered college, they stopped dunking because he would dominate the college ranks. So he developed a little thing called the Sky Hook, so they only made him a better player and more dominant one.....!!!!!

i think you've been listening to a small circle of people talk. in my circle, i hear all about Kareem, Willis Reed, Elvin Hayes, Hakeem the Dream, Robert Parrish, Moses Malone, Chocolate Thunder, Patrick Ewing and even Bill Walton. No doubt about it, in my opinion, that Kareem Abdul Jabbar was the best center to play the game. Yeah Wilt did his thing, and so did Bill Russell, but Kareem is just my personal favorite. I'm going to be honest. Wilt and Russell really only had each other to keep their game at the highest level. no one else was around yet to give them any real tough competition.
You know what i say? i say stay up on your b-ball knowledge, and when you start hearing that talk that tends to leave out the great ones...you get in there and take them all to school. otherwise, you're always going to have those that do a whole lot of talking, without saying anything.

Nobody remembers the old NBA greats aka Kareem Abdul Jabbar or Bill Russell. They all know Wilt for his 100 point game and Shaq because he was best recent center. To me, he still is the best center now, because Yao and Dwight Howard are too inexperienced.

They only mention Wilt and Shaq because Shaq is the most visible center now and the only center in NBA history that he can be compared to is Wilt.
They're both big, dominant, and with lousy free throw shooting.

IMHO, Wilt is the superb offensive participant to ever lace them up. He would desire to do issues no one else would desire to and that no one else has on the grounds that. He replaced into so dominant they had to alter rules to even out the interest for something of the gamers: make the lane wider, make offensive objective tending unlawful, create a "vertical airplane" for loose throw shooters, and so on. MJ would have gained greater video games, yet Wilt replaced into up against harder opposition nighttime in and nighttime out. For those of you who disagree, Wilt's rookie 3 hundred and sixty 5 days there have been 8 communities in the NBA and easily 4 made the playoffs. The expertise point had to be intense through fact there have been so few spots obtainable; additionally, the only "boost" communities got here in via way of the ABA which replaced right into a longtime league. MJ's rookie 3 hundred and sixty 5 days there have been 23 communities in the NBA and sixteen made the playoffs. (the 1st around then replaced into better of three, 2d around replaced into better of 5.) there have been 7 boost communities on the grounds that, all throughout the time of MJ's occupation. (i think a large reason the Bulls gained seventy two is that there have been 2 boost communities that 3 hundred and sixty 5 days.) the familiar expertise point is now decrease through fact there are lots of of greater communities. additionally, the familiar expertise point now could be decrease through fact in case you look at stats they are decrease. whilst Wilt performed, a 20 factor 10 rebound guy replaced right into a journeyman; now that style of participant is an all megastar. whetzellus - Wilt might have exceeded Shaq his lunch. Did you ever see Hakeem Olajuwon tournament up against Shaq? tournament up isn't the case -- Hakeem ruled Shaq. even whilst Wilt replaced right into a shadow of himself, he performed Kareem (the 2d superb middle of all time) greater effective than all and sundry else on the time.

I'd go with Kareem #2 behind Russell:
Kareem has the most MVPs of the centers and only follows Russell's 11 rings.

You're right, Kareem never seems to get his due. Perhaps that's because Magic was the dominant personality on those Laker teams, he never got a chance to shake off the sidekick image.

Wilt was scoring and Shaq is now...Many other greats, but who really stood out? They were blenders, not stand outers...

Don't forget THE DREAM, HAKEEM OLAJUWON.
Definitely, one of the best and most underrated NBA centers ever!
