I have seen antique furniture chairs that go back to early England with the butt prints carved in them so it is just one of those common inventions like the chair it's self. would be very hard to redesign a chair because so many have made them in so many ways through recorded history. Adam probably did it when Eve said sit.

i guess when chairs were flat, it would warp over time to shape the butt of the person sitting in it. kind of like Birkenstocks. they should make chairs. back to the answer. after the chair warped over time, the owner of the chair decided to just make chairs like they were warped to fit a butt.

Probably some fat guy. He sat in a chair that didn't settle and voila! butt dents!! The manufacturers saw his butt-print and the rest, as they say, is history!!

Probably someone that had to sit in a hard chair for long hours. He may have been related to the person that designed toilet seats to pull your cheeks apart when you sit down.
