What happens if the father moves out of state? What action do they take then? I'm getting child support already, but I just got word (last minuted) that my kids father is moving out of state. He won't say where he is going though. What will happen?? I'm guessing he has a job already lined up.

Just notify your local child support collection agency and theyll advise you what to do next. If he thinks hes going to hide hes going to be surprised the first time he uses his social security number and he will. Hes supposed to register with the collection agency of a change of address so he may have already and made arrangements. Good luck

Though you may have a divorce decree, implying that this is is your ex-husband and not the kid's father, then refer to that......now if it's yo baby's daddy and you all were an item for a minute and the kids resulted from a night of passion, experience has it that you had to take him to court in the first place to get the support and that he didn't call you up and politely offer it to you! So if he is moving out of state and not volunteering the information on his new employment, there is one thing you never have to worry about when it comes to a man working......every job requires two forms of identification, driver's license and social security number. The Attorney General's office uses the social security number to track employment records, but you have to stay on top of the Attorney General's office meaning calling at least once a week for them to conduct a social security search on the father; it works but you have to initiate it!

When you get a new job, the paperwork that you fill out goes through a state agency and the state checks to see if his wages need to be garnished for anything (like child support) the state will then inform his new employer how much and how often the money needs to be taken out.

He is still responsible for his payments. Most likely he will not contact the state and tell him where he's working. So you have to 1. either find out yourself where he's working and call them or 2. wait until the state catches up with him (which sometimes takes a while).

Get in touch with the support agency. All states cooperate now on support...if he has a job....theyll find him

Look at your decree of dissolution. There is probably some language requiring that he notify you of change of address.

if your getting child support now and he does not take the kids to his house, then where he lives is not your concern,
