Short answer:
At the time of the Alamo, Texas was part of Mexico. Texans revolted against Mexico. Santa Anna led his troops to stop the revolt. The Alamo and its few defenders stood up and were all killed.
Mexico: Trying to stop a revolt.
America: really nothing, they supported Texas but at first it didn't become a state. As a result Texas was also once a nation that the US officially recognized.
Hope that helps.

Mexico wanted Texas to remain part of Mexico, Texas wanted to be independent. If Mexico succeeded it would be twice the size it is now.
The USA did not have any official interest in Texas, but a few southerners led by Davy Crockett were there just to support the cause of Texas freedom.

the battle of the alamo was part of the war between texas and mexico for texan indipendence. they fought santa anna and his army (mexico) at the alamo but won teh overall war and texas became an independent nation. this is why they are called the lone star state. a few years later, santa anna came calling again and since texas knew that they could not pull of another miracle they quickly joined the united states in an attempt to side step the mexican army. this failed and the united states entered the mexican american war to defent its newly aquired state. zachary taylor crossed the rio grade with his army of american cavalry and annihilated the mexicans not only granting texan independence from mexico and statehood in our great nation but also securing for the united states much of the present day south west.

It was about land. The Texans wanted to be Americans. The Mexicans wanted to retain Texas as part of Mexico.

They each wanted the land... The state of texas was disputed territory. Each side wanted key forts in Texas, to try and claim texas as theirs.
