"Angela's Ashes" and "Running with Scissors" are good choices (someone already recommended them). Frank Mccourt and Augusten Boroughs are amazing autobiographers, expressing a dramatically beautiful yet humorous tone to their works (you will laugh in one page, then cry the next).
But if you really want to read THE definitive nonfiction novel - the pioneer of its genre - read Truman Capote's "IN COLD BLOOD". It is a more serious and intense choice, though.
*And in reply to what someone else posted:
Not all novels are fiction. That is a common misconception. Read "In Cold Blood"... it will redefine your perception of literature.

nonfiction is true. novels are made up. they are the opposite. (novels are fiction.) there are loads of great books. go to amazon.com and find the kind of book you like. go to the library and ask. I can probably tell you if I knew what kind of book you like.

"Inside the Kingdom - My Life in Saudi Arabia" by Carmen Bin Ladin. The author was a sister-in-law of the infamous Osama Bin Laden and this book is a memoir of her life, especially the time she spend in Saudi. It's a fascinating read and educational about the Saudi culture and Muslim religion and customs.

I also recommend Angela's Ashes and its follow-up, Tis, by Frank McCourt. If you can get the audiobooks, also, I highly recommend listening as well as reading these two memoirs. McCourt reads them himself and he makes it feel like you're sitting across the table having a conversation with him.
If you haven't read it already, Night by Elie Wiesel is a must-read... the memoirs of a Jewish Holocaust survivor so it's very sad and moving.

No such thing as a non-fiction novel. What are you interested in? Mysteries, biographies, sports, history, travel? If you give us some idea of your interests, I'm sure people can give you great book recommendations.

Novels are all fiction, that's what novel means.
