First how about we get the rest of the world up to our standard then we go from there.

Eat more steak and stop drinking milk. Like I have said before global warming will happen without our help as it has throughout the worlds history. The Ice age went away without car or industries help didn't it. I will not say that we don't make some small contribution but to say we are causing it goes beyond rational thinking because the evidence is strong that it has happened before without us also are we the force behind warming of Mars. I am not against lowering greenhouse gases but a practical approach needs to be taken. More and better (cleaner) public transportation could be used and a good review of EPA regs might help. I work for a power company and when our steam backs out of our engines (for a temporary malfunction) we are required to shut them down because we loose what controls our NOX emissions (remember that it is only temporary). We could get steam back into our engine in a matter of a minute but the regs require that we shutdown. When we restart the engine we are allowed to run out of compliance for about an hour and due to the nature of start up it is grossly out of compliance when we could have kept the unit running and never actually got above the legal limit to start with. There are many ways to make things cleaner but shooting from the hip only makes for more silly regs like the one I just explained.

The wonks just want to raise taxes. Carbon is just the latest excuse.
It has yet to be proved that human activity is changibg the climate.
Encouraging more use of nuclear power would reduce the amount of CO2 we generate.

Global warming is a non-issue. In 1975 Newsweek ran a cover story called "The Cooling World" and everyone was worried about another ice age. The truth is the earths temperature is always changing and it runs in cycles. There is no reason to kill our economy to stop a non-existent problem

Force strict carbon emission standards on vehicles. Make conventional technology expensive for carmakers to produce that they will be forced to build vehicles with high emissions standards and eventually be forced to produce vehicles that run on other than gasoline. I'm not a tree hugging hippie, but I see foreign oil/energy dependence as a national security issue. Companies will not change unless they are given incentives or if that does not work, then forced by legislation.

Return to the pre-fire stone age, world wide. Only that will reduce the population and the CO2 levels generated by mankind and its activity to an effective lower level.

Raising carbon taxes will fatten the wallets of the commies that run the Un. Nothing more. People who endorse giving their money to European socialists they didn't elect, based on science that is largely disputed, demonstrably lack critical thought. The Un will take my money when they are done filling my head with bullets.

Cutting the gasses won't help. They either have to be reduced drastically or eliminated completely. As long as humans use fossil fuels there is no chance that will happen. Enjoy the next 50 years it will be balmy before it gets deadly.
