I keep many mollies, and have previously had successfull births of numerous fishies, but I can never really tell they are pregnant until I see the little guys!!! I would like to capture them in a small tank to help them in their survival (not getting eaten by mom and dad). How do I tell if they are pg or are birthing????

Chances are your mollies are always prego. The females will get larger and larger until they look like they are going to bust. Unless you know the day of the last birth, it will be difficult to tell when she will have them again. every 28 days give or take a few days.

You can alway put her in to a breeding net when she seem huge! It will be easier to remove the babies from there.

If the female is getting larger and larger in the belly, then she is pregnant. Female mollies are usually pregnant honestly. It's not really easy to tell when she will have them, but there are a few signs that might show up. She will be very , very large in the belly and the belly will look a bit squared off. Not so round anymore. She will probably try to hide. Often this would be at the top of the tank, but could be anywhere. She may also stop eating a day before the babies are due.
