Remove all the barriers to the sale first - in other words make the conditions so that the buyer has no logical reason to say no, then generally just ask if they are going to buy - If you have removed all the barriers first then they have no option but to actually buy the product.

The best way that I found from 7 years in the car business is the assumptive close. This is where you just assume the buyer is going to buy it.
You'll use phrase like "How do you like "your" new car." "That is going to look great in "your" garage." "Your" Family is going to love taking it on a vacation." "Tons of room for "your" legs huh?" You also ask lots of questions that elicit a yes response like. "That is a nice color isn't it?" (if they say they liked the color.) or "Would you like to look at some other colors?" (If they didn't like it)

When you finally do ask for the sale. Say something like. "These numebrs look great. Let's go ahead and get this cleaned up and you can drive "your" new (insert car name here) home." The whole time you say this you need to be shaking your head yes. This will subconsciously seem like a green light signal to them.

Worked alot for me, and I was Salesman of the month several times because of it.
