Did you ask this person for what you need? Were you able to get what you needed, but blew the opportunity? Usually being lectured about something is a clue that you screwed up somewhere. If there is that much friction about something, I'd figure a way to get it on my own. Your question leaves me with some.

A guiding hand, a word of wisdom to an open door to 'show me' the way. To be lectured isn't loving, nor is to be given without teaching...to be independent and self sufficient to pay it forward. If u are 'given' something, what do u do when it runs out...seek the 'elders' and listen with eyes wide open.

If you are in the position to give the person what they need then you should always give it if you can.

But what if the person doesn't want what they need? Then first you have to talk with them so they will accept it.

If after talking they still refuse help, then just walk away and pray for them.

Neither one. I cannot tolerate lectures. And if what I need is going to be painful, then maybe I don't want it either.
