Thanks to this Yahoo Community, I found a great acne regimen that I am happy with, however everyone has mixed opinions about Exfoliant Scrubs. I've been told that scrubs and exfoliants are not good for your face as it "spreads" the acne and robs your skin of natural oils. Could this be true? Do I have to live a life without my Loffahs and Buff Puffs Sponges and begin a life without exfoliants??? Is there such a thing as good exfoliants and scrubs, if so, how often should I use them per week?

I use "Clean" which is an Alpha Hydroxy Exfoliant/Scrub from Zirh ( http://www.zirh.com/product.aspx?f=6 ) every time I shave (before shaving) and I use a loofah pad along with it. I find that this eliminates the chances of any ingrown hairs and prepares my face for shaving.

The skin on my face is sensitive, but I have never had a problem with this product. I use it 5 times a week.

Some scrubs are mild enough to use every day and others are way to harsh to use more than once a week. I would not advise using Loffahs or Buff Puffs on your face. They are better for use on the body and should probably only be used once or twice a week. They are way to harsh for your face and too much scrubing can trigger more breakouts. I've used St. Ives medicated scrub once a week or Proactive face scrub once a day and both worked well for me. But if you Google "Face Scrubs" you will find a site called drugstore.com and they have listings for several scrubs from mild to strong and I'm sure you could find a product that will work for you. Good luck.

that is a myth. you cant spread acne by using exfoliants!!! thats ubsurd! no you dont have to give up anything coz actually, exfoliating can be good for ur skin and face if u do it ryt! you should exfoliate your face (and body if you like) maybe 2-3 times a week to remove dead skin, improve circulation, and unclog pores. if you can handle it, 4 times a week is okay and if ur skin is sensitive try it once or twice a week only. it is also best to use natural ingredients that are a bit bead-y so that they "roll" on your skin easier (and therefore not irritate the skin). the type that i use is ST.IVES'S APRICOT SCRUB. i swear to this product! it is cheap, yummy smelling, left my skin smooth, is all natural and doesnt irritate. give it a try and see the difference!

I havent had much trouble with my skin ever, so I may be wrong, but I use my St. Ives Apricot Scrub every morning in the shower on my face. People may disagree, I just feel refreshed and it wakes me up.

I would recomend using them only once a day. I think the best time is right before bed, so you wash out all the dirt and oil that you may have accumulated throughout the day.

no exfoliants can definately be good, i saw a dermatologist and she actually recommended some. i only use them once a day though, and sometimes only once every couple days because using them too often can irritate your skin.
